Updates and ABCs

14 Aug

As of August 6th, Colin weighed 26.013 lbs! He is wearing shoes that are 6 1/2 to 7 in size now so his little feet are growing.

Wanted :

Alphabet pal

Responsible for fueling our son’s obsession with the alphabet.

Okay…so Alphabet Pal is NOT wanted for some awful crime.  He/she (the gender is undeterminable) has been around the house for awhile but has had some Mama and Papa enforced time away from Colin (as a break for us because Colin plays with him daily).  As a result of time with Alphabet Pal and our family singing of the ABC song, Colin sings the alphabet song almost continuously these days.  He tends to stick on “ABC, ABC, ABC, ABC” rather than finishing the lyrics; he continues with the melody sometimes though.  When he sings along with Alphabet Pal, he tends to get farther through the song’s lyrics.   We now have magnetic alphabet letters with which he can plays. The letter he most consistently recognizes is the letter “B.”  He also loves the alphabet section of www.starfall.com.  Because of Colin’s high interest in the alphabet, I have started working on letter-related activities with him.  For example, he glued beans on a black and white outline of the letter “B.”  We also have the Bob Books Prereading Collection and numerous ABC books around the house (from our collection as well as the library).

At this point, Mama is predicting Colin may know how to read before he is officially potty trained.  He is definitely more interested in the alphabet than going potty.  Oh well!

Colin is still very serious about his passion for Baby Signing Time.  He watched it with sunglasses on yesterday (his idea).

Another passion of Colin’s is corn. Here he is enjoying corn on the cob at a meal this week:

Thanks for stopping by,

I love the sunglasses shot! They are so cute with their sunglasses at that age. I remember how thrilled Hosanna was with hers.

Potty training is so individual…Hosanna was successful by 2. Rebekah was still wearing pullups camping the summer after she turned 3! A friend told me not to worry, she was sure Rebekah would not go to college in diapers!

Love your posts…I’ll get to email hopefully this week, thanks for your messages!

How cute! LOL about him and the corn on the cob. My daughter won’t eat it. Also, my daughter wasn’t day potty trained until right about age 3.

HaHaHa! Love the corn photo! My oldest son was just like Colin and very interested in learning the alphabet at an early age. He turned out to be very gifted. Sounds like you have a smart little cookie on your hands too! Keep encouraging Colin and watch his learning skills explode! But be warned, there will be times when it is very humbling parenting such a smart child. Good thing you guys all have a great sense of humor!
