Happy Easter!

10 Apr

Sorry I still haven’t got caught up on posting here.  Colin was sick most of last week.  He is doing much better now and is getting in gear for Easter and his upcoming 2nd birthday.  We have been working on learning how to respond to the question, “How old are you?”  He can answer, “Two,” but he holds up his whole hand instead of two fingers.

We are hoping to visit our family in Illinois this weekend.  We are going to make hot cross buns (which you make a cross on with icing) because I always enjoy making (and eating) them. To incorporate a Russian tradition, we are serving kulich this year.  Our kulich was made in the bread maker last night because I don’t have a 2 lb coffee can.  Maybe I can find one for next year.  Kulich is a type of bread that Russians eat at Easter time.  It contains dried fruits and usually is drizzled with icing.  It is sometimes decorated on top with a rose and colorful sprinkles.  “XB” is written on the side with dried candies to say “Christ is risen.”

Christian Russians tend to see Easter as the most important of religious holidays/celebrations.  We look forward to celebrating this weekend that we also believe that “Christ is Risen.”  Happy Easter!

Heather, Colin is so adorable. Thank you again for your prayers while we were away meeting our baby girl. I still remember July 2008 when you went on your first trip. =)
