Our Little Racer…

3 Jan

We hope to hear something next week about the tests the hospital were running on his uhhh diaper material.  We have discontinued using Eucerin because we think it may have actually made his skin worse.  We are trying to keep records of any new foods we introduce or when  his skin has flare-ups.

Colin was excited to receive his Radio Flyer Retro Rocket in the mail yesterday.  Alan was excited, too!  He has been riding it and pushing the buttons a lot.  We even caught him checking beneath it like he was a little mechanic.  Guess he was trying to figure out how it works.  Can you see the excitement in his face as he takes off on his Retro Rocket for the first time?

IMG_1326_cropped Colin has also had his first bowl of borscht here at home.  We aren’t sure if the baby home served it or not.  He loves soup and he ate quite a bit of the borscht.  He still loves his bablachka (or sweet rolls) and warm milk.

To be fair, I must share a photo of Colin in a sweatshirt he was given as a Christmas gift.  It is not a TN Vols’ shirt so sorry to all my TN readers!  It is a gift from his cousin, Aric, who attends the university.  Colin seemed really proud to have the new sweatshirt!  Any one else want to send us some school colors to wear?

We are revising how we were giving him his bottle of milk daily.  We’ve pretty much been doing it at the time the baby home gave him his warm milk.  In re-reading an adoptive parenting book, we are re-thinking how to best facilitate attachment with the bottle.  We are going to try to do it in a more relaxed environment than the kitchen and while cuddling in the rocker.  We are also going to try to reinforce making eye contact.  Colin does okay with this sometimes but is something he definitely still needs to work on with us and it helps us to attach even more to our sladkey (sweet) Colin by sharing such sweet moments together.

We ask for prayers for someone close who has been diagnosed with cancer.  I am not going to share specific information right now on the blog because I’m not sure if it is okay to share right now.  We may be traveling soon to enjoy visiting with this special person whom we love dearly and for whom we are praying.  Pray that the cancer will be easily treated or that God will just take it away to His glory.  We do believe that miracles still happen in our day and time.

Through our adoption journey to Colin, we have seen God work through so many obstacles to bring us to the sweet boy He planned for us to parent.

Thanks for stopping by,

I have to say that I don’t think he looks quite as comfortable in the Michigan shirt as he does the Vols shirt. Just and observation! Lol! Maybe orange is just his color!! GO VOLS COLIN!!!
