We’re Still Here….

26 Nov

It has been very rough packing and preparing to leave the country for 1 month.  We are SOOO tired tonight.  We have tried so hard not to go over the weight limit for flights within Russia; we know we are fine for the flight over.  It is the domestic flight to our region that could charge us a hefty fine if we are more than 44 lbs per checked bag/88 lbs for our two checked bags.  We have not packed an enormous amount of clothing so it is all the extraneous stuff that we need for Colin and for us to stay a month that is getting us.  We tried to clean the house and have it all wonderful for when we return…uhhhh it doesn’t look like it is going to happen folks.  It is not awful but there is a trail of stuff throughout the house leftover from the chore of packing for our trip and trying to survive the last few hectic days.  We are not superheroes so we already had accepted the fact that it would be ludicrous for us to to try to put up the tree or even our stockings.  I did put a Christmas wreath on the door and a garland on the fireplace.  Mom gave us a stocking for Colin.  I pulled out our nativity set which Alan’s mother gave us and each of the grandchildren.  The pieces are all made of cloth and will be good for our little fellow to play with when we talk about the Christmas story.

I’m not sure if I will be able to post tomorrow before we leave.  Please say a prayer that we don’t forget anything major and that we have a safe journey to Moscow.  We aren’t sure what our schedule is on our first day.  We have our medicals on November 28th and we leave for our region on the following day.

Off to bed,

We are facing the same things, do we even try to get the tree up and decorated before we leave??? In a perfect world, our house would look like a storybook when we return. Reality…it’s just not gonna happen!

Safe travels and have a wonderful trip!
